I need articles and books for my paper. How do I get started?

Answer

Try this:

  1. Use the Discovery search box on the library's homepage.  Discovery is sort of like Google for library resources.  It searches books, ebooks, articles, and databases at the same time.  Use the limiters on the left side of the results page to help you narrow by material type.  (Hint: Checking "Catalog Only" will limit your results to only books.  If you're looking for articles, it's a good idea to go ahead and check the scholarly, peer-reviewed option.)

  2. Use a subject-specific research guide.  Here, you'll find the databases most relevant to your area of study and some book lists to get you started.

You may also want to watch the "Discovery Search Demonstration" video to help you get started.  If you need further assistance, let us know! We'll be happy to set up a personal research consultation appointment.
